Don’t let a little thunder scare you!

We’re still going to the park, so you should too. We won’t cancel the show tonight unless we absolutely have too. Keep watching the website, our Twitter feed, and facebook for information.

Chalking!

Be sure to come out to see us tonight!

Opening night tonight!

Odell park has been drying out all day long in preparation for our opening night performance, and with the forecast calling for ‘less than 1 millimetre of rain’ (that’s barely enough to slick your hair back!), conditions are perfect for a fantastic show!

Have a look at Chris Giles’ masterful trailer, to get a taste of the hilarity you’re getting yourself into.

And don’t forget, Isaac’s Way Restaurant and Cedar Tree Café are offering a Shakespeare Discount to anyone with a ticket for tonight’s performance, or a  stub from a show you’ve gone to see!

It’s a go!

Unless the heavens suddenly open up, tonight’s preview IS HAPPENING! I hope you’re all as excited to see the show, as we are to preform for you. Remember to be there no later than 7:15, to catch the preshow.

The rain it raineth every day.

Alas and alack! Tonight’s preview has been cancelled for rain. Even though it’s not torrential torrents, this day of drizzle has turned Odell into a mucky mess. Plan on coming to see us tomorrow night!

Previews in the park!

Come tonight or tomorrow to our preview performances!
Or wait until the weather clears up, and come see us on Friday for opening night. Starting tonight, we perform every night until July 8th, except Sunday the 1st.

Arrive at the park by 7:15 at latest to allow time to make it to the play’s starting point, and to take in our pre-show entertainment Love on Love featuring vocalist Signa Love. Warm clothing and a blanket or cushion to sit on are recommended.

Don’t forget to pick up some of our Mad Swag, before you make your way to the performance space. Also get sneak peek of the programme, and read the cast and crew bios.

The home stretch!

Sexy Shakespeare

Funny, Sexy Shakespeare:

Love’s Labour’s Lost in Odell Park, June 27-July 8

The countdown is now on. Rehearsals are in full flight, costumes are being fitted, and sets built, all in preparation for Bard in the Barracks seventh annual production, Love’s Labour’s Lost, which will take over Odell Park from June 27-July 8.

Love’s Labour’s Lost is Shakespeare at his funniest and sexiest, a comedy that features a truly unconventional battle of the sexes and some of the Bard’s most priceless comic characters and scenes. In the play, the King of Navarre and three of his male friends take a vow of chastity, promising to see no women and devote themselves entirely to study for four years. No sooner have they taken this oath than the Princess of France and her three comely companions appear at the gates of Navarre on a royal visit. What happens next? Well, you can probably imagine… Meanwhile, the comic complications mount as a fantastical Spaniard and a country swain become embroiled in a battle for the heart of a dairy maid, and a pompous schoolmaster attempts to whip a group of comically inept actors into shape to mount a play for the Princess. If love truly is a battlefield, Love’s Labour’s Lost presents the most absurd and laughable outcomes of the carnage.

This Bard in the Barracks production will have a Mad Men flavor, with the play set in an Ivy League college in the early 60s era of skinny ties, JFK, and Marilyn Monroe. Expect fab fashions and fab music … and maybe even some dancing Soviet spies too!

What else is new this year? You’ll want to arrive early for our pre-show entertainment featuring vocalist Signa Love singing songs of (what else?) love! If you’d like a great meal out before the show, our restaurant partners Isaac’s Way and The Cedar Tree Café are offering special deals on meals for those attending the play. And for those on a budget, special discounted ticket prices will be in effect for our preview performances June 27 and 28. Regular performances run June 29-July 8 at 7:30 PM nightly, except for Canada Day, July 1. Elsewhere on this site you’ll find full ticket and show details, coming soon.
