We at Bard in the Barracks are feeling mighty proud and happy and also a little melancholy after closing what was an amazing and extremely successful 2025 season on Monday. We were thrilled and humbled with how positively audiences responded to our wildly varied double bill, with the hilarious and high-spirited shenanigans of The Merry Wives of Windsor and the epic tragedy of Macbeth in its spectacular forest setting both drawing raves from audience members. The record books will show this as our best-attended season since 2010, and second-best ever in our nineteen-year history!
We have many people we’d like to thank in closing, including our funders City of Fredericton Government, UNB Fredericton and Downtown Fredericton, and our venue partners, Christ Church Cathedral and the Fredericton Botanic Garden Association. Thanks to our amazingly talented and hard working cast and crew (look at all those smiling faces!) who endured heat, cold, rain, thunder, many, many mosquitoes, and even a tornado watch to share our love of Shakespeare, and their considerable talents, with you.
But our biggest thanks of all goes out to all of you who came out to see the shows. Thanks so much for making Bard in the Barracks part of your summer! We’re already looking forward to next year and hope you’ll join us again then.
In the meantime, we hope you’ll take in some of the shows at the NotaBle Acts Theatre Festival, running July 24-August 3, and featuring many of the same very talented performers as actors, directors, and even writers of the festival’s 16 new New Brunswick plays.
