Open auditions will be held for the Bard in the Barracks production of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth on May 4th and 5th at Memorial Hall on the UNB campus.
Macbeth, the fifth annual production of Bard in the Barracks, will be performed outdoors (pending final official approval, the production is tentatively slated for Fredericton’s Odell Park). The play will run June 23-July 4 and will be directed by Len Falkenstein. The production will be rehearsed intensively (mainly evening hours) beginning the week of May 9.
Auditions are open to the public and roles are available for male and female actors of a variety of ages. Auditions will take place from 8:00-10:30 PM Tuesday, May 4 and Wednesday, May 5, with callbacks from 8:00-10:30 on Thursday, May 6. Those auditioning are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the play beforehand. Auditions will consist of readings from the play. Appointments are not necessary for the auditions, but those attending should be prepared for the possibility of being on hand for most of the evening, depending on turnout. Actors with some training in any of athletics, dance, martial arts, fencing, acrobatics, and music are especially welcome.
Anyone interested in auditioning who is unable to attend on these dates, or anyone requesting further information, should contact the director at lfalken@unb.ca or 458-7406. Enquiries from persons who may be interested in assisting with the technical demands of the production (stage management, wardrobe, set, props, publicity) are also welcome. All members of the company will receive honorariums for their work on the production.
